Life Changes

Rosie's foster family is going to China for two years and obviously couldn't take Rosie with them. So Rosie moved to a new foster home for the time being. Here she's leaving the garage with Bronson & Pooh---and boy, what a wonderful, big backyard she's got now to run in!
Rosie learned to heed the invisible fence in not time---she's a pro already!
...and she doesn't get tired of exploring the property.

New friends...

Rosie can be a little grumpy in her days...having to adjust to new fur siblings---but she found out soon, that Bronson is a good snuggle companion...
...now Rosie & Bronson are best buddies!

Rosie's new Wrestle Buddy!

Rosie warmed right up to Pooh as well...

...an voila...they actually start a nice game of wrestling!

Rosie celebrates in Style!!

Hi all! Just wanted to share these pic's of Rosie's b-day "party" this afternoon.

Sweet Rosalina Beana Deana, Rosita, and Rosie Roo Roo (for the roo roo noises she makes when we are dishing up her kibble) are just some of her silly nicknames. She continues to be fabulous with my three boys and leads the pack on her daily run with my husband and our Weim. She lounges on the couch the rest of the day soaking up sunbeams and cuddles. She has been excellent with puppies and cats. (very motherly and sweet to the puppies) and gets along fine with our older extremely easygoing male Weim, but she is still pretty aggressive with other dogs so she will either need to be an only dog or to have very patient owners who are used to helping dogs get to know each other.

Rosie has been doing great with her chiro care and actually seems to be getting younger every year! Her t-storm issues have really gotten a lot better as she tolerates rain pretty well now and just goes down on her own to her "safe place" (a kennel with a cozy blanket) which we set up in our finished basement so the sounds would be muffled for her more. She is such a lovey and deserves a home where she can continue be treated like the princess she is!

Happy Birthday Rosie!! (a doggie "cake" from Happy Hounds in Yorkville)

Aw shucks...a party...for me?
YUMMY! (no, she did not eat ALL of it...she shared half with our Weim!)
A little roll in the grass after her big snack.
Too much cake makes me do this!

Playing mom...

Rosie just couldn't help it...though a bit grouchy at the start, she couldn't help but warm up to the two Von Trapp Puppies Franz (middle) and Ellie, who stayed for a few weeks in her home.

Rosie's Birthday!

Rosie Roo Roo celebrated her 8th birthday yesterday. Rosie had a happy birthday lounging around and celebrating with a special birthday cake shaped dog treat from Happy Hounds in Yorkville. Mostly she celebrated surrounded by folk who think she is really special! We know what she was wishing for, when she made her birthday wish---a forever family of course. All her other wishes have come true already and we think this one will too!!

Rosie-the comfy girl

Rosie is nicely settled in at her foster home and is patiently awaiting the perfect family to come along that will make her a forever girl, which she so much deserves.
If you want a sweet pointer gal that is not hyper and will be mellow with your kids...
...Rosie is the one for you!!
She's also shown that she can be quite patient with a little hyper foster puppy around...
...though if you asked her, her most favorite place is cuddling with family, or taking a nap on the sunny deck.

Dreaming of a forever home...

Daphne and Rosie were dreaming of their own special forever home around the Holidays. For Daphne that dream has come true. Rosie is crossing her paws---wishing and hoping---that her chance will come very soon. How can you not love this cuddly little pointer lady, who loves everyone and simply ADORES kids.

Rosie At the Birddog Balooza

Came across this beautiful picture of Rosie sniffing out the pheasants at the Illinois Birddog Rescue's 2nd annual reunion. Rosie had loads of fun mingling at the event.

Rosie the Couch Potato?

ABSOLUTELY!! Rosie enjoys her snooze on the couch, with another furry companion as pillow. Life will never be solitary again!

Rosie & Kids

Rosie loves all the attention she is getting from the kids in the family. She soaks it up like a sponge. Life has never been so good.

Rosie's Past Life and her Dream Come True

Rosie was born in April of 1999 but had been kept outside in solitude her whole life on a concrete slab kennel--year in and year out for seven years in Knoxville, TN. As a result of her imprisonment, Rosie chewed on her cage to the point that her teeth are worn flat and completely missing in most places.

Rosie is a wonderful girl who is so grateful to be where she is--you can tell she just wants to pinch herself to make sure she isn't dreaming! She would do VERY well in a house with kids and other dogs to play with. She could not hurt a cat because she has no teeth, but she would probably chase a cat around a bit trying to play! Rosie is a such a special girl who just needs time to be shown that life can be good and full of love. She has seven extra years of cuddles and loves to catch up on, but also has seven extra years of love to give!

Rosie & the family...

Rosie still seems a little scared of men, and has made strides in cuddling with my husband, but definitely prefers me. She has done great with all male dogs she has met, but gets a little bossy with other girl dogs. She rides well in the car and does fine on a halter for walks. Since this was her first time being in a house, we had to work on her potty training, but she is doing very well now and she has full run of the house when we are gone. Rosie may have been used some for hunting, but does not show much interest in birds and is proabably gun shy because she still starts at sudden loud noises.

Rosie settling in...

Rosie is learning about things she never has had a chance to experience--like how to play, how to love, and how to be happy! No one is ever sure if a dog can completely come out of the mental sadness that dogs experience when they are kept in solitude for long periods, but Rosie is doing so very well! She has been phenomenal with my three young boys--she is so gentle and is never spooked by them. Her favorite thing to do is snuggle, and she will literally let you pat her for an hour (or more) if you can! But when love time is over, she is happy just to snuggle on the couch or bed and live the good life.

Rosie has arrived at her new foster home!

Just wanted you to get a peek at how Rosie is fitting in here. We all adore her! You can really tell she is just so grateful to be included in the house and all of the activites. She went with me yesterday to pick up Nathan at pre-school and did very well in the car without a crate. She loves our senior Weim and tries to play but of course he just rolls his eyes as if to say, "oh great, there's another one." :)

Rosie is doing well with a mix of SolidGold canned food and dry with the occasional scrambled egg, yougurt, or cheese for a snack. My favorite though is when she cuddles in the bedding because you can just tell she is wanting to pinch herself to see if she is really dreaming that she could be in a warm, comfortable house with good food and so many people loving her at long last.

Rosie & People

Wondering if Rosie wanted to be a backyard dog without much human contact?...Think again! This little girl is a champion snuggler---just waiting for a family to come along that will cuddle and love her forever!!

Rosie & Company

Rosie is getting along with other doggy company-whether big or small.

Update from Rosie's temporary foster home!

Anne writes: Rosie is doing so well - I love her immensely. She has not had an accident in the house (amazing since she lived outside her whole life in a small concrete pen). We have introduced her to all of the Gregory-Coles - all 7 of them. She likes to play and jump a lot! She gets good exercise when Ben, my husband, takes her on long walks everyday, but she's rather run around freely in a huge fenced yard, I have a feeling! She is beautiful, eating well, and happy for whatever attention she gets. She has adjusted swimmingly!

This girl deserves a good life!

We want Rosie to have a good life with lots of hugs and plenty of couches to sleep on indoors- maybe a few squeaky toys! We would like to bring Miss Rosie to Chicago as soon as we can.

Would you open your home to this girl---we are looking for a foster home or forever home for this sweetie! Please contact Illinois Birddog Rescue for more information.

Save at last...

Sweet little Rosie was just saved from a life of living on concrete in an outdoor kennel near Nashville, TN. Her rescue angel has been watching her for years and was able to get her into her home after IBR gave her our blessing. We do know that she is 7 years old and her teeth are ground down a bit. She was covered in ticks but got a clean bill of health from the vet who saw her recently. Rosie just needs lots and lots of TLC. You can surely tell she loves people and in Pointer fashion is a hugger.
